Ourselves Alone looks at the struggle of three young Belfast women, trying to carve out a normal life in a city torn apart by the Troubles. The play explores the difficulties that women face when they find themselves embroiled in conflict and fighting for their voice to be heard.
The female experience of political violence is a unique one – and Anne Devlin has written a brilliant story of loneliness, isolation, loss and sacrifice, seen through the eyes of three feisty characters. The play is in turn poignant and funny, tender and powerful and the themes remain as relevant today as they were when it was first produced.
